The texture on this piece is what got me—you can really feel the hand-pressed ridges where the clay was shaped, so it doesn't look like something from a factory line. The spiral design has a lovely handcrafted feel, and knowing it's made by a community of women in South Africa makes it even more special. Mine arrived with subtle variations in the clay that prove it wasn't stamped out by a machine. It's become the first thing guests comment on in my living room.
